Linking the EMBL Australia EBI Mirror with the Australian Research Data Commons
Research Data Australia (RDA), is a mesh of searchable web pages describing Australian research data collections. This project is developing a set of software that will generate and maintain collections of data of Australian interest based on the EBI mirror and NCI-SF in bioinformatics capabilities co-located at the University of Queensland.
Component A, “Population of RDA with collection descriptions of data held in the EBI databanks”, will specify and implement automated systems to extract metadata from the EBI Mirror, make these metadata discoverable within RDA, and enable navigation from RDA to the corresponding primary data entry or section in the Mirror.
Component B, “Ability to submit descriptions to RDA for data associated with secondary analyses performed using the Australian EBI mirror”, will specify and implement automated systems to extract metadata from secondary analysis of data (either EBI data or user-uploaded data) using the NCI-SF in Bioinformatics instance of Bioflow, make these metadata discoverable within the RDA, and enable navigation from the RDA to the corresponding workflow.
Component C, “Delivery of collection descriptions for EBI data aligned with BioPlatforms Australia (BPA) themes to RDA”, will engage BPA and other relevant R&D communities to help conceptualise and specify views of Australian EBI Mirror data within the context of BPA theme projects, and organise data within the Mirror to constitute these views and make them discoverable within the RDA.
