DEEDI Genetics and Genomics Information systems portal

The Molecular Bioscience Technologies unit within Queensland Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) need to provide DEEDI researchers and their industry and academic partners with access to their searchable research databases. These research teams are located at sites all across Queensland ranging from Mareeba in the Far North to Brisbane and surrounding areas in the south. The focus of these projects include: providing improvement in breeding programmes, consumer and producer traits for tropical fruits and turf grasses as well as breeding and selecting varieties of primarily mango and sweet corn which provide health benefits.

The GGIS portal has been created by DEEDI personnel and is being hosted by QFAB. The portal runs on an enterprise-class Linux server that is maintained by the QFAB team. The server is backed up nightly and the installed software includes a LAMP stack and developer tools such as R.
